The Chairman’s Corner

Vinnie Reda, Chairman
My Fellow Republicans,
January’s wintery-mix weather couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the Annual McLaughlin Election Review Invitational Seminar! An overflow crowd met at Casa Mia for breakfast as John McLaughlin and NYS GOP luminaries analyzed and strategized. Newly-inaugurated County Executive Ed Day and his Campaign Manager (and Son!) Chris Day were joined by our State Chairman Ed Cox and Westchester County Chairman Doug Colety. Other featured speakers included Stony Point Town Council Tom Basile and Mike Lawler in one of his final appearances as GOP State Executive Director! We have recently learned that Mike is bringing his talent and expertise to Rob Astorino’s Exploratory Committee! Although he will be missed, his move is certainly for the greater good and we wish him – and Rob – the best of luck as they gear up for the high calling of the NYS Governor’s seat!
As Rob Astorino considers “throwing his hat in the ring”, he represents a turning tide of GOP successes as revealed by McLaughlin’s study of national and local political trends. Chris Day took the floor to shed light on his winning campaign techniques and – against all odds – achieving victory with ONLY ONE MAJOR LINE! Securing the top of the ticket was a huge score, but only one of many Republican accomplishments throughout the County and State. Rockland County GOPers can – and will – build on our solid track record as we face the 2014 political year with confidence! One of the many crucial positions to fill will be Legislative District 5, vacated by Ed Day’s departure for the County Exec office.
